How is a sensor applied?

  • The device

A small sensor, which is a microfilament, is placed on the patient's body that tracks glucose levels throughout day and night for a number of days your doctor asks you to wear, usually for 14 days.  You can continue with your daily activities including bathing, swimming etc.

  • Applying the sensor:

Sensor is lodged in an applicator and is pressed gently at the site of application chosen by your doctor. This sensor gets applied within a fraction of second and is virtually painless! In some cases where patients sweat excessively, an over bandage can be applied for the sensor to stick at the site. If you have excessive or thick hair around the site of application, please inform your doctor to shave them before application, so that the sensor sticks well

  • Monitoring:

Your doctor will then advise you on when to come back. This will generally be twice a week for 2 weeks, in case the doctor is using the daily pattern module. In case the AGP module is warranted in a few cases, the follow up will be once a week or at the end of two weeks.

  • Removing the sensor:

After 14 days A fairly easy process by which your doctor or nurse can gently remove the sensor without you feeling it!
