Dr Kalyan specialises in the expert analysis of these graphical blood sugar level patterns - Ambulatory Glucose profile (AGP). This results in a focussed treatment of the patient’s Diabetes as per his/her blood sugar variations. He is one of the few doctors trained by the international AGP clinical academy and is now a trainer at AGP clinical academy. He regularly conducts seminars for physicians and Diabetologists on the use of CGMS and AGP, and also chairs sessions involving discussion about the same. He has extensive experience of using CGM technology and AGP analysis in more than 1000 patients over the last 4 years.
Dr Kalyan gained extensive training in the UK, on the various clinical and technical aspects of insulin pumps. He has also received specific training in the use of insulin pumps . He has initiated and followed up many diabetic patients on insulin pumps
A new era has emerged in the treatment of diabetes, which is now guided by rapid advances in technology. Monitoring with glucose sensors and insulin treatment with Pumps are the future of diabetes. Closed loop sensors will soon be available, where the sensor and pump work as a unit that not only monitors the sugar levels but also gives information to the pump as to how much insulin should be delivered. These emerging technologies are making the Diabetes treatment more accurate and insightful.
Dr Kalyan has a special interest in such precision technologies, and is keen to create awareness among patients on the use of these gadgets in their Diabetes management.
